Altar Servers are lay liturgical ministers whose main role is to assist the priest in celebrating the mass. He must have a strong desire to serve at the altar of the Lord. The duties of an altar server include lighting the candles on the altar, carrying the crucifix in the procession, preparing wine and water for the sacrifice of the Mass, assisting the priest with the missal when he is not on the altar, and setting up the altar during the preparation of the gifts. The position of altar server is open to any young man from St. Patrick Parish who has received the sacrament of Holy Communion.
Each candidate will receive specific training before serving at mass.
