We had a successful work day with about 12 members of the Parish and cleared brush from the cemetery and along the fences. All of the fire brick was removed from cemetery property and moved to the Picnic grounds. About 10 trailers loads of brush and limbs were cut and hauled off.
The gate post was repaired and the main entrance gate was reinstalled. The fence at the stone alter was moved back about 10 feet to provide clearance around the alter. A vehicle gate was installed in the fence near the alter to provide access to the back section of the old cemetery.
Three loads of gravel were installed and spread on the unpaved cemetery road. The road had deteriorated due to the wet spring and traffic load. Brush was cut from the side of the road and that will help keep traffic from encroaching unto the grass.
All available records on the purchase of cemetery plots have been scanned and stored electronically. A second hard-copy set of the records is stored off-site away from the church office. A few old, missing records have been restored from the families.
Six tombstones have been repaired. Two tombstones (Kane and Lehmann) were reset on the existing bases. One stone (Martin) had old concrete removed and the base excavated and reset with the upright reattached to the original base. A cross tombstone (Page) had the base leveled and the pieces reassembled. Two broken tombstones were reattached to existing bases.
