The Catholic church has a special devotion to the Blessed Mother of Jesus. Mary is recognized as “one of us,” a human person, and a model of faith and discipleship for all Christians to imitate. When Jesus, from the cross, entrusted the Apostle, St. John, with the care of His mother, Catholics believe that Mary became our mother as well. During the month of May it is a tradition in the church to honor Mary, our mother, in a very special way, by placing a crown of flowers on the head of a statue that depicts her image.
Cassie Brewster will have the honor of crowning our Blessed Mother, escorted by Steven Santos. All children are invited to participate in the procession and bring flowers to place in the vases to honor Mary next Saturday. Also, those making their First Holy Communion this year are asked to wear their outfits again that day.
