As a baptized Christian, you are already participating fully and deeply in the service of Jesus. To serve as a Liturgical Minister is a great honor and a great responsibility. It should be undertaken with the intention to grow in your devotion to the Mass, to the church that celebrates it, and to the Lord, through whom and in whom it can be done.
Below is a list of the St. Patrick Liturgical Ministries. Please call the Parish Office or connect with the contact for each of the ministries if you are interested in serving.
ALTAR SERVERS Altar servers are lay liturgical ministers whose main role is to assist the priest in celebrating the Mass. He must have a strong desire to serve at the altar of the Lord. The duties of an alter server include lighting the candles on the altar, carrying the crucifix in the procession, preparing wine and water for the sacrifice of the Mass, assisting the priest with the missal when he is not on the altar, and setting up the altar during the preparation of the gifts, when the Deacon is not present.
The position for altar server is open to any young man from St. Patrick Parish who has received the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
Each candidate will receive specific training before serving at Mass.

LECTORS Lectors proclaim the liturgy of God's word to the parish, reading from the Old Testament, the Responsorial Psalm (if there is no Cantor), and the New Testament. Good vocal skillls and a confident presence in public are wonderful qualities for lectors. If you are comfortable speaking in a public environment and have a love of God's word, you may be an excellent candidate for being a lector at St. Patrick Church.
