The St. Louis Sluggers volunteered in Waverly to help with rebuilding efforts following catastrophic flooding in August 2021. The group of 25 volunteers from the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Queen of All Saints Parish in Oakville coordinated their trip with St. Vincent de Paul in McEwen. They helped with repairs on nine homes, including installing floors, painting, plumbing and electrical work, among other tasks.
Life Teen joined the rest of the Life Teen Youth Groups across the US by singing the Divine Mercy Chaplet this past Sunday at 3:00 PM. Ella Hooper, Addison Hooper, Chesney Lansford, and Kayleigh McGahey performed an excellent rendition of the Chaplet with Giselle Williams accompanying them at the piano. The parishioners, family members, and friends had an excellent time as they sang along with the youth. The event concluded with snacks and refreshments at the Life Teen Center. The next Life Teen meeting is Wednesday May 11, 2022 at 6:30 at the Life Teen Center.
Recently, Second Harvest presented an article about Robert, a food pantry volunteer, whose home and belongings were destroyed by the flood. Much fun was had at our St. Patrick Feast Day celebration held on Saturday, March 19. Free bingo and pizza was enjoyed by all. Thanks to all who came out and helped!
As Pope Francis wrapped up the General Audience on Wednesday March 16, he led those gathered in the Paul VI Hall and online in a special prayer for an end to the war in Ukraine. He made his own a prayer composed by the Italian Archbishop of Naples, Domenico Battaglia, making a few minor additions.
St. Vincent de Paul’s Society at St. Patrick’s in McEwen, TN provided barbecue lunch for volunteers at the first House Raising Celebration on Thursday, March 17 in Waverly, TN. This event was a joint effort between the Humphreys County Long Term Recovery Group, Inspiritus Disaster Relief Volunteers, and case managers from UMCOR - United Methodist Committee On Relief. The Diocese of Nashville is seeking college-aged young adults with a fire for the faith to participate in Totus Tuus as a missionary. Totus Tuus is a fun, energetic, Catholic summer program for kids first grade through high school. Missionaries travel in teams of four to parishes around the diocese to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. Missionaries must be available May 28-July 22 and will receive a stipend. Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is the process adults use to become full, participating members of the Catholic Church. As members of St. Patrick Church, praying for those who are answering Jesus’ invitation to deepen their relationship with Christ through RCIA is our response, mission, and responsibility to bearing witness to our faith. Let us pray for Alex, Blain and Megan who are on the journey of preparing to be received in the Catholic Church during the Easter Vigil. Together in Holiness is a marriage conference series for dioceses that inspires spouses to grow together in holiness and empowers parents to form their children in the Catholic faith. Funds raised during the Humphreys County Flood Victim Benefit Bass Tournament were presented to representatives of the St. Patrick's Chapter of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Over $40,000 was raised to help bring relief to families affected by the devastating flood. Dylan Fuller, parishioner and graduate of St. Patrick School stated, "I want to thank my family, friends, all the sponsors, all the fishermen, and everyone else who helped me along this journey. Thank you Lord for giving me the courage and perseverance to dive into this! We crushed our goal!"
Father Zack Kirangu, pastor of St. Patrick and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parishes, has served as chaplain of the Serra Club of Williamson County since 2019.
