St. Patrick Cemetery is operated as a part of St. Patrick Catholic Church. The cemetery has been in operation since the 1850's and is one of the oldest Catholic cemeteries in Tennessee. The earliest gravestones dates from 1857.
Saint Patrick Cemetery is operated to carry out the sacred religious function of the burial and care of the resting places of our deceased. The cemetery is dedicated to the respectful care of the people of God who even in death remain a part of the whole Christian community and encourage Catholic prayer and devotion for our deceased brothers and sisters, especially in our cemetery.
Included below are links and documents with information on the cemetery policy and guidelines, on-line maps and burial guides, history of the cemetery, and the repair and preservation of historic tombstones.

HISTORY AND RESEARCH AT ST. PATRICK CEMETERY
The MTSU Center for Historic Preservation and St. Patrick Cemetery entered into a partnership to research the history of the cemetery, provide recommendations on repairing and preserving tombstones in the old section, and prepare walking tours to highlight the history and notable features of the cemetery.

The first printed walking tour "Old World Immigrants" locates about 70 tombstones that identify the settlers’ home country and highlights a few if the immigrants from Ireland, Germany, and France.
The St. Patrick Cemetery Committee has also documented the tombstones for the four priests buried at St. Patrick Cemetery and documented the effort to locate the unmarked graves in the old section of the cemetery.

TOMBSTONE REPAIR
Several of the tombstones in the old section of St. Patrick Cemetery have been damaged through the years. The Cemetery Committee had reset and repaired some of the damaged tombstones. Other tombstones have been cleaned to remove lichen, moss, other growth, and discolorations. Only approved cleaners should be used on the tombstones.
